Can cats kill

I used to have a cat called William.....I gave him to my mate who is a farmer......she used to rent him out as a ratter...apparently he was excellent....

Oh yes they can kill rats. However, my cat brings baby rats home alive and well. I think she just wants to be friends!

Thanks for your answers. LoftyLottie -- wish I had enough nerve--to say how sweet, but can't a bit scared of rats large especially , small as well. Brenda.

The little field mice she brings in alive and well are very sweet and we try our hardest to get them outside again safely. The baby rats look sweet but I know they will grow into big rats and I really don't appreciate her bringing them home!! I think she has a maternal instinct towards all little furry things. She never destroys them or marks them in any way. Some die from shock. What a useless cat!! But we love her Brenda.
