Just been cuddling my cat, he has an inoperable tumour, got to the stage where he doesn't really want to be touched, but purrs when he is, bless him.
Final decision time next week I think, can't let him go on like this.
No question, no answer expected, but know that all on A&N would understand x

He was diagnosed with cancer of the gullet last week slinky and been waiting a week to see how they are going to treat it. It's been the worst week of my life!
Hey linda don't worry. I'm trying to be positive at the moment and like to hear that life is going on as normal for others. It's the early hours of the morning that are the worst though. Can't sleep but know I should do. Just having a last vodka at the moment.

Oh Jan i'm so sorry, hope it turns out well for both of you x
Thank you slinkycat. xx
THanks for that Jan . I know what you mean about wanting to hear about normal life, when my Daddy was diagnosed with cancer, all the talk was about that...you just want to get away from it at times
He's supposed to start the chemo in a couple of weeks time so our lives will change completely then. Till then it's life as normal. Anyway, going to try and sleep now. Night all. xx
Night jan xx..god bless

Going to bed now Jan will be thinking of you though, like I said don't come on here much but you are always one of the nice ones on here xx
Hi Slinky - thinking of you and your furry friend, now and next week. We talked on here last week about whether the vet would come to you when the time comes - I hope you can do that for him, if that's what you'd want for the cat. If you want to, let us know how it goes next week. x
Hi Slinkycat I am so sorry to hear the upsetting news about your cat. I have a 13 year old cat which is perfectly healthy but I do worry that he will get something like this.
What is the average lifespan of a cat?
Is it common for dogs and cats to get tumours? I get the impression so.
Oh Jan, I am so sorry to read of that devastating news about your hubby. Thinking of you. xxx

Slinky, thinking of you too. I've been there many times, it is a horrible decision to make. xxx

hi slinkycat you are doing the last act of love you can for your beloved cat letting him go before he is in to much pain, will be thinking of you next week sending you and your puss a hug xxx
Our dear pets only exist because we as humans have brought them into the world. They are our total responsibility. be strong and brave for this little one, who knows only the pleasure and pain of the immediate, does not fear the unknown, and knows you will not do harm. You will be sad but you will get over it, and the little one will have no more pain.
Mosaic...that's beautiful..x

Slinky-I have been there also....mine was only 5,and I still fear I left it a bit too late-it was so hard to let go. Just remember that you are releasing your pet from pain. When we take animals into our lives,we promise to do our best for them....and sometimes what may seem the worst IS the best....if that makes sense. x
Hi i know how you are feeling,we had our 18yr old cat put to sleep just before xmas, she too had a tumour, lost weight and the will to live. You are doing the right thing,we have buried her in the back garden and put flowers and a windmill where she is,so we know she is always there.I still cry when i think of her ,but i know it was the best thing to end her suffering .take care

Hi all, just a quick answer on behalf of my mum (slinky) because don't think she's checked back here in a while.

Thanks for all the kind words, it's really upsetting to see a much loved pet go through this!

Bruno's been having alert stages and has been quite enjoying having fusses off of everyone whereas a couple of weeks a go he was running away from both me and my dad which was the worst bit! He is still losing lots of weight but he seems ok otherwise, his appetite comes and goes but he is being pampered with any food we can get him to try including raw chicken, fish, liver, salmon paste and home made cheese sauce!

We are taking him to the vet next week to have another cortisone injection and hoping that he will be ok for a couple more weeks. Will tell mum to check back and reply to everyone, thanks again for all the kind words!
