First let me point out that breeding from a Pit Bull in the UK is illegal. However I suspect you are not in the UK and to answer your question the first signs are usually a thickening of the nipples and they tend to turn pinker, often after about three weeks. Then the belly starts to look swollen although this depends on how many pups she is carrying. The bitch may become more 'cuddly' wanting to be near you and acting daft. The only real way however is to either have her scanned by a vet (after 28 days usually) or wait until approximately 63 days after the date of mating to see if she produces anything. They can give birth anything from 56 - 69 days, so keep a good eye on her in case she tries to take herself off to have her pups somewhere dark and quiet. I hope all goes well if she is in whelp, but please do not hesitate to contact a vet if there is any sort of discharge during the nine weeks, as she could miscarry the pups or reabsorb them, or need a C Section to deliver them.
