My daughter and grandson (aged 2yrs) has moved virtually next door to us...and I want to get a dog. Had staffies all my life but wife has ruled that out. Anyone know how spaniels are with young kids? Thanks

Shocking isn't it Red?

I have a norfolk background . . .

It was on the kc website about the rhodesian ridgebacks.

At the time of the controversy, there were loads of documetaries about it, and my sister loves dogs so was going to be a dog breeder when she realised what it meant for the dogs. She did her research and realised that she loved animals too much to breed them to a standard which made them suffer.
I never said if you loved them or not, i said that some pedigrees get bad illnesses, or are even killed because they haven't got a disease, and then they cost a fortune, is it worth it for a couple of ribbons?
I doubt any of you know wht its like living with spina bifida, but you can't even explain to a dog that for them to win a pretty ribbon, they have have this genetic disease.
Molly.....listen Okay?

You said Norfolk people are interbred. That is a shocking insult.....

Is your Dad your Uncle? Is that why you type such tripe at times?
You can't deny the truth. No my dad isn't my uncle, even though they do look remarkably similar.
Are you sure about that?
You just don't have answer the animal cruelty that the kc wnated dogs to go through, i'm just glad that things are changing.

I won't even bother to give the correct information on Rhodesian Ridgebacks, and as for Cavaliers, the breed standard has not changed a single word, and they are of course in the Toy group, and are not a Spaniel as such, which are of course Gundogs. Your opinion is very much the sort that relies on the type of reporting so beloved by the tabloids and which contains very little actual fact. If you were to do your homework you would know that what you are stating is untrue. By the way I am also from Norfolk.
Its something to do with their breeding. Did you know that the german shepherds that the police use are completely different to the kc standard? th epolice care for their animals and breed them to work and to be able to function properly, the kc just want them to look cute and fluffy.
Do Norfolk people have bad hips.....lol
Lankeela is very knowlegeable about dogs and was very helpful to me when I had a problem with old Shaneys nasty ear.

As for your rude comments about Norfolk people . I know for a fact that Lankeela lives in Norfolk as do I and several other AB'ers .So button it with your comments about interbreeding .
Cheeky madam .
I have bad hips :))
how do you explain the cases of dogs that have brain damage etc and have to be put down because their brains are too big for their skulls? if thats not inbreeding and cruelty what is?
Now as you bring GSDs/Alsatians (note correct spelling) into the equation, I would point out that reputable breeders hip score their dogs before breeding and only breed from dogs with low hip scores. If Joe Public buys a 'cheap' dog from a breeder that does not hip score then the problem will go on, so don't blame the good breeders, blame the puppy farmers/back yard breeders who mate their pet dogs with the dog down the road knowing nothing about their pedigree or background and doing no health testing.
