What The Funicular!!!! An egg buried in my flower pot!!!

Morning all you lovely lot!

I have a question for you today....

Whilst gardening at the weekend - I thought one of my plant pots looked a little empty.. slugs had eaten all but the stalk of my petunia.. so I decided to plant another small plant instead.

Whilst turning the soil over - I hit something hard.. thinking it was a stone or rock... I subsequently uncovered a large white egg....!!! OMG!!!

Its about the same size as a chicken egg (could it be a duck egg? Lots of duck babies around near me at the moment!) and it feels heavy - so something definately inside it...

WHAT THE HELL could have put it there!!!!!

I have covered it back up and buried it - dont ask me why!!! I have no idea why I did it!

I am curious as to what kind of animal could have put it there!!!

no I didnt..... but I did wonder if the Husband was playing silly jokes on me!!
Have since been googling - and sounds like it could have been a fox!!!
Might explain the poop on my path too! ewwww

Had hen's eggs on my allotment once , only a couple and one evening actually saw a big rat pushing one along the earth.Was absolutely terrified.!!!!

Could have been a Fox ,they do bury food for later shortages.

Sounds like a squirrel has pilfered it from somewhere and buried it - they`re prone to doing that!

Well, that's one mystery solved by my good lady wife, she called me into the kitchen and we both saw a fox jump down from a 6-foot high fence, wander around our garden with an EGG in its mouth, then proceeded to jump another 6-foot high fence did the same in next door, and then another fence where I lost sight of it but it still had a whole unbroken egg in its mouth... just got to catch it on camera now. Where do they get the eggs from??? I've found two now one in my shed and another buried in a flower tub in the garden, both with 'lion stamps' and not even out of date.
