Dog to the vet

A man goes to the vet with his huge Rottweiler which has a badly infected eye. When he walks into the consulting room the vet asks what the problem is.

"He's got a bad eye" says the man.
"Well, before I look at the eye I'll give the dog a quick check over to make sure everything else is OK" says the vet.
After a minute or two the vet turns to the man and says
"I'm very sorry to tell you this sir, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to put your dog down".
"Why!" said the man. "Just because he's got a bad eye!"
"No" said the vet - "He's getting bloody heavy!"
