Pet-less : (

Our 13 year old cat Tom just dropped dead this morning, no sign he was ill, he'd just eaten breakfast and that was it, he lay down and died. Shocked me it did, I was leaving for work and didn't know what to do.
He's in a cardboard box locked in the shed, : (

Same here dotty. Sorry for you to hear of your loss, but when my time comes I hope to go the same - suddenly and without pain.

dotty I have always advocated that if you are fit and able you should have another pet asap. This way you give another pet a good loving home and enjoy its companionship. The energy you would expend on grieving is then channeled into caring and loving for one that needs it without you ever being disloyal to the loved lost one. For the only time in my life I have been pet-less for 18 months now and this is because of my failing health but I lknow it would be irresponsible of me to take on another.
Thanks alot Nox,
we had Tom from a kitten, he was born at our other house, his mum was my cat rackel, she was knocked down when Tom was about 2 years old, we lost Tom once and thought he's also been knocked down, but someone came to look at my white Ford escort car that had broken down a couple of weeks earlier and was parked behind the house on waste ground and when we opened the car door Tom jumped out! He had to have been in there for 2 weeks! at least!
When he was 8 weeks old he went to a little deaf girl's house to be her pet, but she had learning difficulties and from day one she would swing him around and throw him across her room, and so after a week he was brought back and we kept him (he was one of 3 kittens rackel had, one was a long haired tabby, one was a short haired ginger and Tom was black and white, really diverse litter!).

Oh dotty I really am so sorry about your loss.It is heartbreaking to loss a dear pet. I know how hard it is. As I am writting this to you I have tears streaming down my face. It has bought back my memories of my dear dog Amber, she died in Oct. just before I came home from my holiday. At least you was with Tom that is so good. Take care I send all my love. Brenda x
I am sorry to hear about Tom - he was gorgeous. He looked like Batman, would that make him Catman?
I got all three of my moronic moggies from Cats Protection. I think that they are an excellent charity.
If you are out all day it would be best not to get a devil cat - I think that they are known as kittens.
Best wishes.
Susan
