My daughters long haired cat has managed to get quite a bit of candle wax on him, they have tried to trim his fur but its also on his paws. Any idea how to get iit off!

It'll grow out eventually but how uncomfortable for the poor cat.
How on earth did this happen.?

don;t even try you'll get sctrached to bits - take him to the vet, they'll need to warm it up.....

Daughter had a power cut and been using candles cat somehow got waxed not burnt thank goodness.

carefully comb it using a metal comb that you keep warming in hottish water wear gloves and armour...

Try some warm baby oil.

Candle wax hardens so why can't she just 'snap' it out of the cats fur?
Once most of it has gone she should be able to brush the rest out.

I would think he will eventually pull it out when he washes wont he....
They do it with 'poo' (sorry!!)

Plus even if swallowed i doubt it will do any harm..

Just a thought - for the wax on his paws, could they rub it with ice cubes to harden it then chip it off?

can try....have you ever tried to hold a icecube to a cats paw.... somebody phone blood transfusion service...what's your blood group?

I have had cats RW - I know the pitfalls! but if you wrap them tightly in a towel, and just have one paw protruding at a time, damage minimised lol

Try using a hairdryer on a low heat to melt the wax.

Be careful, the cat will lick as much as he can and he shouldn't swallow it. I'd whip him round to the vet - you can clip his fur to get it off, but I'd be worried about the paws.

update on sylvester, All wax is off now. through brushing and him biting bits off. This cat has had a few of his nine lives. Thanks for all advice.
