Well there's loads of them here, and pigeons. Between them they've frightened all the other birds off.

I recently saw two Magpies chasing off another Magpie that was trying to invade their nest.

Here in South Yorkshire the maggies thrive on nest-raiding at this time of year. They seem to be particularly partial to young blackbirds. On the other hand, the local wood pigeons seem to be vegetarian. Are things different in the wilds of Suffolk?

I have to agree that in breeding plumage magpies are beautiful birds. They are rowdy beggars though and make an almighty "clatter". Having said that, the endless coo-ing of the randyasyoulike pigeon population can also be a tad irritating. Especially when they seem to be "getting their wings over" more than me.
Like I said, this is South Yorkshire.

Two magpies come to my window feeder each day. As do many starlings and one tiny sparrow. Do not seem to bother each other but the starlings are not too good at queueing amongst themselves.

We have one magpie which comes down for food every day but I always chase it off as they go after the young blackbirds (and we have a lot of those) Early morning we get a whole horde of jackdaws, we have been wondering - do they take baby birds from the nests too?

Jays eat chicks as well, and I have a whole family of them in my garden :(

They must all have migrated to the small wood I overlook (nr St Helens, Merseyside) - there are HUNDREDS. A beautiful bird but sometimes awful to watch - killing baby bunnies, robbing blue tit nest box etc.

In my garden rotten things, 2 just went by my bedroom window. They keep going after the blue tits as if next doors cats aren't enough!
