I live in the Maybush Area of Southampton and we have a pair of Magpies, one of whom sits on our fence looking to see if there is any food. I will keep my Camera handy and see if I can get a photo of one or both of them. I am enjoying reading your articles. Regards Peter J Newbey
I eat pigeon but have never felt the desire to harvest them from my garden, it's best to get one with a nice squishy breastbone to reveal it's youth.........
There are lots of them here in Portsmouth. I love them, and all the corvids, they are beautiful to look at and very clever. The maggies have been exceedingly noisy lately, not sure if they are raiding or protecting!.
Magpies as well as crows to some extent eat the eggs from nests as well as the young birds. Can't see how someone can like them. Someone mentioned about doves/pidgeon's going for the magpies it is to stop them attacking their nests.
Farmers shoot them for the same reason.
