...but three weeks ago my hubby told me about a white bird he had seen on the fence. He described it as white with dark speckles, he got out the field handbook "Birds of Britain and Europe", but could find nothing like the one he saw.
My sister was here today, making a cuppa by the kitchen window she also spotted a bird and called me, but by the time I got there it had gone.
She said it was once of the most beautiful birds she had seen, and described it exactly the same as hubby did weeks earlier. She also said white-with black or dark speckles, and about the size of a blackbird.
The blackbird that I saw, with the white patch on its back reminded me of one of the fashion slaves that you see walking around the town with the 'North Face' logo on the back of their black puffer jackets.
Or maybe they just get dive-bombed by the elusive 'misile thrush ;-)
Update....
Another sighting this morning by Mr F...it stayed long enough for him to get a very long look.
He can see now it is indeed a blackbird.
Pure white all over, including the beak, with just a few scattered darker feathers on the back.
I have primed the camera ready, and left it on the windowsill in case it comes again and Mr F can get a shot of it.
