Not a question but saw a pair of red kites on my way into Dorchester this afternoon. Have never seen them in Dorset before although I'm very familiar with them from Menorca. Made my day. They are still obviously spreading their habitat so that's great.

That's good news, Prudie, thanks. What a lovely sight they are.
Lovely birds. We see them daily here in mid Wales, still amazing to see them.
If you drive up the M40 from the M25 towards Oxford you see stacks of them especially either side of the Chilterns.
Good to see!
A very successful reintroduction program.

Yes I was lucky enough to first see them in mid wales in the late 70s when they were nearly extinct. I've seen some ABers post about them now and again but I've never seen them round here before.
They are NJ. I'm in the Chilterns and they are everywhere. They get driven away by smaller birds.
They've started flying over our village (just outside Hereford) - I think they are coming in from the Brecon Beacons/mid Wales area. I love them.
Fantastic news Prudie. Let them spread their wings all over the UK. Beautiful funny inquisitive birds.
We have some in Western Bedfordshire. They seem to be moving their way eastwards. Hurray!
We get them occasionally in S Yorkshire, I hope they breed sometime in the future if the game keepers leave them alone!
They've spread down from the Chilterns to the Thames/Kennet Valley too. We had 6 over our house the other day on the western edge of Reading and we see them regularly as we travel into Reading on the bus..
