Chaffinches

There are three or four chaffinches with thick ,white ,deformed type of club feet visiting my garden. They seem to have difficulty perching and move on the ground by fluttering their wings . The winter has been hard for them . Has anyone else seen similar birds?

Finches can suffer from a condition known as Tassle Foot. Could be that.

Sometimes they can get a build up of poo on their feet whilst in the nest which hardens and can cause deformities or even loss of feet

Since I first saw this post at the beginning of April, I've been looking at the chaffinches in my own garden more closely and I've noticed similar foot deformities, although not as server as those described by Lilyanne.
I just wondered if anyone else has seen this in chaffinches lately ?
