Yes, ILM. We have a new male this year as Monty has not yet returned.

Is the interior of the nest artificial? It looks very smooth.

No, Sandy. The ospreys have done that, although the basic structure of the nest is man made. The birds add there own sticks, branches, seaweed and grasses every year until they have it as it suits them. Lovely to watch.

I suspect so, ILM. I have been watching him and his mates since 2011. I am so, so sorry he has not yet returned. I miss those amber eyes of his. He is/was such a special bird.

Yes, Melv, he has. I know that. I also know it's only a bird, and there are greater tragedies in the world, but I shall miss him.
