I was pleased to see a male blackcap in my garden yesterday, it had a beak full of caterpillars,so I think it has a nest near by. Summer visitor I believe.
The green woodpecker was making its yaffle call most of the day and the drumming of the greater spotted woodpecker seems to have stopped now.
Mistle thrushes are making a racket lately, with their alarm call, which sounds just like a football clacket.
Yep Boaty,
Sooo much bird song going on lately1
I only wish I was better at identifying their songs/ calls.
Some seem to chatter all day long ie black bird, robin and I think, chaffinch's and great tits, plus buzards nesting in the tall pines near by.
As I said on another thread, I saw my first-ever blackcap the other day. I do a lot of walking around in the countryside around my village, but I'd never seen one - even though they're not rare - and I suddenly heard a lovely, loud song in the hedge next to me, and there it was, unmistakeable.
