Afternoon All,

If you would care to take a glance at the "Edit Profile" page;

http://www.theanswerb...user/edit_profile.php

You'll see there is a new tickbox labelled:

[X] Subscribe to all my own questions

This will allow all old members to be automatically subscribed to all future questions. For existing members this is automatically unticked.

For new members this will be automatically ticked. We hope this will encourage newbies to come back for a second go :)

Unticking it doesn't unsubscribe you from all questions, you still have to do that manually.

Questions, comments, thoughts all welcome, as always.

All the best,

Ed.

PS. AB will be down at midnight tonight for around 2 hours while some wizards cast spells on the hamsters.

Ed...I like it because I often forget to subscribe to my questions.

Ron
Box ticked Captain.
I repeat a question I asked many months ago - will Subscribed Questions/Threads still have to be removed one at a time?

If so, there could be quite a build up on Subscribed Questions/Threads in one's account.
I've never really understood the value of subscribing. I just look on my profile at my questions and/or answers. What am I missing? (apart from a lot of e-mails)
does anyone know what he's on about?

only joking Ed it does make sense, to everyone except me
:-/
Well Prudie , i something is of great interest and you subscribe, they appear under the latest posts as a list and if someone adds to it, it updates and you can just click back in.
Ed - box ticked, but I had to go through Chrome to do it, it wouldn't stay ticked using Firefox...
I may be a bit thick but can someone please give me an idiot guide to subscribing please. I sort of understand Mamya's reply but sorry to say it needs to be just a little easier for me! Many thanks ........
Ann, see a thread you want to keep tabs on - then tick the box that says 'subscribe' try it with this one as an experiment, then as the thread grows (if it does) you will see on your screen and can easily go to look. Also easy to unsubscibe.
Sorry is not a box , just the word 'subscribe'
Hi prudie- I think one effect of subscribing to your own question is that you while you are on AB you can see at a glance via the 'subscribed threads' list (below Latest posts list on the right) whether someone has replied to your question.
I have now checked the new box on my profile but, like you, I ask very few question, so it won't make much difference to me.
Ann it is also worth pointing out every time a subscribed thread is answered, you get an email - not everyone is keen on that.
Thank you mamya and factor. I had no idea that happened!
