What Is Your Idea Of 'retro'
41 Answers
I ask this because I'm in the process of getting stock together to open a little boutique selling Retro items. Talking to various different age groups I'm getting the impression 'Retro' is very dependant on your age. Some people think 40's and 50's are Retro (I would class this era as Vintage) some think the Eighties are 'Retro (do me a favour that was only last month wasn't it?) I'm stocking stuff from the early 60's to the late '70's. Is this what you would expect to see? If not what? (I'm off out now but will get back later to discuss answers) Thanks x

Also perhaps offer to try and source pieces that people are looking for, form a good relationship with your customers and it should work well.

Some styles, such as Victorian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, etc have a distinctive look to them although they sometimes blend into each other with subtle additions and subtractions. Whereas, to me anyway, "Retro" indicates a fashion or style that really can't be defined...To me it means stuff from the 50's to the 70's; to someone much younger it might mean stuff from the 70's to the 90's. Good luck...It sounds like an interesting project.
