our own fault ?
It is seen as a chat room equivalent by many of the newer younger members.
If we DO get a biddybank how will AbEd police it?
How do you prove you are eligible?

Chatterbank turned into a poisoned chalice very quickly, and while there've obviously been some good friendships and interesting people who've come in in recent months, the amount of vindictive and mailcious posting has really been quite alarming.
Every site evolves, and there's still hope yet.
I would hope that not one who is a biddy (or fart) in their heart would be excluded from biddybank. Biddies (and farts) by definition are friendly sociable conversable people. I would hope that what would be frowned upon (and this is a personal list) would be abusive behaviour, txtspk, and general trollishness.
I guess that the subject matter (it was better in the old days, my arthritis is worse than yours, you can't get a decent pair of celanese double gussets these days for love not money, the french fancy versus crumpet debate) might dissuade some people from visiting, just as I never go to motoring or sport.
.....but exclusive? Never!
Even if it ever happens dot it won't be called BiddyBank - that would be our nickname for it I think. It wouldn't take us long to identify the time wasters, (we can spot one of those at 500 yds in a pea-souper, remember those??!) & they'd soon be gone if ignored or reported where necessary.
As woofgang says it wouldn't be exclusive - more like your aunty's front room on a Sunday!!
I'm nowhere near being a biddy/ fart/ odlie/ fossil, but feel a tad riled that I may be outcast because I'm too young! I think it's getting a bit tit for tat now, and because there seem to be the same people on CB, there should be a separate one becuase they don't talk about thread's you enjoy. Often there are threads that I don't enjoy, I just go to another category. If this happened you'd have to have a special chatterbank for people who like dogs, for those who like cats, for those who like white bread and those who like brown.
I think Ed could perhaps be more proactive in getting rid of the nuisances and imposters (Sorry Ed I don't know how tinternet works and how hard it is for you to do so) thus the 'oldies' would probably feel that they'd be more involved.
I assure you that I'm only 22 and some of the pap that gets posted gets on my nerves too especially when it's blatatly kids trying to pretend to be a regular!
whoa hang on now, The original biddybank idea was not about excluding anybody. As an oldie I do feel involved and post wherever I want to. The original idea was to add another option, that maybe moved at a slower pace, that discussed biddy/ fart subjects. It emphatically was not an age thing as in over fifties only or an age thing as in only longstanding AB members only.
We already have sections where people go to talk about specific subjects. As I have said before, I tend to hang out in home and garden and food and drink, rarely enter Internet and technology and never enter motoring.
As for elegibility, if you feel comfotable there then you are elegible, Policing? same as any other section, report to good old ED.
