ABE as a mark of respect to all those who have given their lives in defence of this country, can I ask that all activity on here be suspended for two minutes at 11 o'clock on 11th November? I realise that it may involve a lot of work which is why I am asking now.

Thanks

Thanks for that dot.  I have always believed we should never forget those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I know that in the past, Armistice Day was observed by millions, wi traffic coming to a standstill at 11 o'clock and I am pleased that more and more folk are observing the Two Minute Silence on that day as well as on the more modern Remembrance Sunday.
What a lovely thought - count me in as well corbyloon.
I always respect the 2 minute silence,so I wouldnt post on here anyway corby. It might be easier for the ED to ask user's to refrain from posting on that day for 2 minutes.out of respect for those that gave there lives for Britain.

Thanks cetti, I'm hoping ABE will gie a postive response. I'll be at work at the time and we have always observed the Two Minute Silence. 120 seconds isn't much to ask for is it?
Question Author
VINNY I have only been on here this year so I don't know what's been done (if anyhting) in previous years. I would not have thought it beyond the capabilities of The Heavies to stop the posts for two minutes.

Like you say corby,2 minutes is only a 120 seconds.Im sure the heavies could work it out.or were send brenda around.(:)

Really appreciate the fact that you're trying to organise this TCL,well done! It's all too easy to forget.

VINNY if Brenda The Elephant has finished her flying lessons, I'll have her on stand-by.

linda thanks for yir kind words. There are many on here, I'm sure, who will know someone who fought in the wars and there will be some who lost loved ones. It's important to remember those *** **-live the terrible experiences

I don't know whether you saw my post CORBYLOON about the number of people now on AB, but in past years things were very different. People were whisked off the site for very minor things. Last year I was actually banned twice for wishing everyone a Happy Christmas, but our lovely, choccy guzzling Ed has made a great difference -  so things they are a changin.

Not sure what happened there! The auto censor is being silly again. I typed "who" followed by"re-live".

What I was trying to say was it's vital to remember the ones who survived but still suffer the traumas.

Will do THECORBYLOON, but like VINNY100_2 , wouldn't anyway...

and BTW if ooo -er is going to be blocked too (and other double entendes, then we're all in trouble...

Cheers for bringing up this thread.

absolutely agree. Like Vinny (and I bet loads of others) I wouldn't be posting anyway. How amazing would it be if the LOON's suggestion could start a movement to bring the whole net to a stop out of respect.
Great idea TCL, I always observe it too, so wont be on here for the 2 mins, but it would be great if there was something official
I think it's great that so many people still take even that little time to remember what these brave men went through for us.
Brilliant idea Corby!  Maybe Ed and the Heavies can design a page with a poppy on and just show that for 2 minutes.  Ed take note.  And don't say people in other countries won't like it, because I'm sure everyone supports Corby in this.
Great ideaTCL..agree whole heartedly with you and everyone else in this thread.
TCL, the censor removed *-*-*-*-*
I'll try again. A word for a loose woman that rhymes with 'shore'.

BTW, I agree with your suggestion.
Yep, I'll go along with that, although I'd actually like 3 minutes silence on 11th November - two for Armistice Day, and one for me being yet another year older :-(
but I get confused with the 1hr time difference and I would probably post at midday - so if Ed would blank a page or remind us, I would be grateful as over here (obviously) they do not observe this silence.
