There are some fascinating profile names on this site and I often wonder how they reflect that persons character, if at all. Why did you choose your profile name ABers? When I was little my brother used to wear little sandals that looked like Romans boots and my grandfather nicknamed him, 'Caligula' (Little Boot), after the mad Roman Emperor. As Caligula's favourite sister was called, Drusilla, I chose that name, even though no one has ever called me that, thank God! Please tell!

I tried about twenty names and was told they had all been taken, so I settled on this one.

Not very interesting is it?

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, I thought you were named after a character from Buffy!

My dog's called Boo (from an old country & western song) so I poached it for 'ere :-)

I love the Betty Boop character, simple as that i'm afraid!

And i put a kiss on the end because whenever i write my name anywhere i put a kiss on the end, same goes for ends of text messages, e mails, informal letters, cards, i always end them with a kiss - even posts on here! There just how i end what i write!

For some reason, I see coyn as a dark brooding Irishman and I'm not even sure you're male. I've seen Boo's tag quite a bit and had you down as some modern day spiritualist, not a loving pet owner at all. I remember reading somewhere that there were a lot of hidden sexual undertones in Betty Boop cartoons that got past the censor. Say no more, Betty! gucciman- I hope you don't wear a medallion, but you've probably got too much class for that and foolish01, I doubt you are. As for goldenboy, that's really cool, but I hope you weren't being set up. I remember an urban legend about a chap with chinese tattoos which, on translation, were very different from what he thought. Thanks to all of you.

Im mimi as it is short for my real name, people call me mimi IRL, also my middle name is Ruth, and i called my daughter Ruth but her sister couldn't say Ruth so she calls her fifi so I purloined her name. Put it together you get mimififi.

So really, it's not a call sign at all; it is my actual name.

Bit boring isn't it.

Mine is really boring ...my dogs name is Shaney and we think he is a star .I waffle about him quite a lot in Animals and Nature !!

I actually thought I knew you mimi because I know a girl in France called Mirielle, who's nicknamed 'mimi' and she has a Shi Tsu dog called 'Fifi'. It's either a small world, or one full of coincidences.
I play boogie-woogie, blues piano (my passion!) mostly Jools Holland, Ray Charles.. and took the name from a line in Clint Eastwood movie where he played a dying country singer. "Throw your arms around a honkytonk man"...

when I first moved to London from Finland my housemates found my first name impossible to pronounce and started calling me Finn and it stuck. so now I'm generally known as Finn but my boyfriend calls me Finnlay to sound cute (or when he wants something).

not very interesting or cryptic i guess, just what I'm known as at home...

Woofgang is what my father in law called our first weimaraner cos he couldn't remember weimaraner. When I first used to go on the net it was all green screens and bulletin boards, mostly populated by male geeks (none intended but its true) who would often insult, hit on or ignore female contributors. I chose Woofgang as being non gender specific and have used it ever since
Smudge was the name of our beloved cat who died aged 13 years.

My name is my favourite tree in my garden & I love gardening.( It's looking a bit bare now though - unlike me - I'm piling the layers on, I can't do with being cold!)

I wanted to be holly but was told it was taken, although I've never seen a holly.

I had several names turned down as already in use;was eating a cox's apple at the time so thought I would try that.
"Buen chico" is Spanish for 'good boy' but it's used, colloquially, to mean 'fine fellow'. I used to have a Spanish drinking partner. Almost every time I met him, he'd have 'one too many' and would end up slapping me on the back while proclaiming "Si, si!. Tu eres un buen chico!"

Chris
Mines self explanetary, I play Chess, but i'm thinking of changing it, after reading these other posts.
How does one go about changing one's profile name ?

Hi dorothy wilso, scroll down to the bottom of this page and click on the red FAQ's- then click on question 1 under My Profile; choose a name you feel reflects you, or your fantasy, or anything really. I find the added sense of anonymity a profile name gives me somewhat reassuring. I've just noticed you're not a green, new member, so I apologise if I sound like a patronising, mother hen. Best wishes!
