Hi All,

Due to technical development all new activity in the ChatterBank will be suspended beginning tomorrow. Users will not be able to post in this category.

We hope to reintroduce the chat room at a later date, with improved security and registration procedures in place.

Thank you very much to all who have made the ChatterBank a unique and interesting community on the web and in the AB. We hope that our loyal CBers will continue to use the AnswerBank in its traditional guise, as an open knowledge exchange.

Sadly no. This has been in the works for some time and we have been given the "green light" for tomorrow. The ChatterBank was an interesting experiment for the AB but with the New Year we are introducing some other elements to the site, including an improved site search, and we need to put our efforts into those areas while addressing the issues that the chat category raised - username security, moderation, registration procedures before we can relaunch.

Yeah Lou - I agree, but I guess those who start greenie names are causing so much more work for ther Ed that she/they can't concentrate on improving the rest of the site.

Ed - Can you not get someone to concentrate on the goings on in CB while the rest of you work on the rest of the site?

It is perfectly feasible to do that, but the site has probably decided that they can bring in more cash by drawing people to the other categories more. Note the 'was an interesting experiment for the AB' rather than 'became a place where a lot of people hung out and made friends', but that aint mentioned cos frankly, my dear, we*dont*care.

How badly does that suck? I think we should set up our own chat site, away from these self interested folk.

Without revealing any "corporate" secrets (ha!) we do not currently have the resources to make the necessary improvements to CB while simultaneously keeping it live on the site.

We won't be evicting the Biddies - heavens the last thing I need this afternoon is a visit from social services ;)
