I agree totally Woofy about the innocent daughter. It makes you wonder where all the innocence has gone in some of the young girls today and I'm only saying some because there are some really nice girls about as well.

Morning all...yes, I got the email from Dolly...I never tell anyone anything over the phone but I had to do a Visa verification the other day to pay my gas/leccy bills online. Did I do wrong?...heyulp!
Seems to be a lot of sad news in the celeb world..Christopher Casenove & Malcolm Mclaren have died (just listening to his Mdme Butterfly) and Martina Navratilova has breast cancer. Very indiscriminate isn't it[cancer]? No one could be fitter than she is....wishing her well.

The email from Dolly has been going round a while, and it's listed on a lot of websites about hoaxes; but it's fair warning all the same about not giving out pin numbers to people who cold-call you (it's okay if you've called them).

Have started to watch the Frost thing, but I hate vicious killings and dog fighting, but will persevere with it, it was alright when the world didn't seem too bad but now it could just be so real! Frightens me.
Daughter came in early this morning from a night out, 5am, jude, could you explain where you were and at what time?
Mr N has trimmed the other carob tree to within an inch of it's life, "let there be light" he said, and lo and behold there was!! then I had to drag all the damned branched to the end of the land where he piled them up for firewood next year, talk about living off the land! One home grown (albeit outside the gate) tomato and now firewood, we are defo doing our bit!!!

Hi all, yes I got the email. once I had trouble logging in to my bank AC online..it kept telling me the code i was putting in was wrong. I phoned for help and was explaining to the nice young man that i knew the code was right and before I could get any further he yelled down the phone "DON"T TELL ME WHAT IT IS" Apparently if they find out someone's code even accidentally it causes all sorts of trouble for them.
Lovely day here, warm and sunny. Tort is outside filling her face, dogs are barking at neighbours dogs through the fence and all is well with the world.

me too woofy with online checking of account (I daren't do anything else online) and had to go to local branch where they handed me a new number, which I had to destroy, when that didn't work they told me to phone a certain number, which I didn't and the next time I tried , the original number worked fine!!
Afternoon biddies and I don't have a brain tumor. (I have this thing about cutting to the chase:) As I said, I didn't think so but the "specialist" (my @ss) did. Two weeks of anxiety and not as much as an alternative scenario, that was one bad doctor.
Anyhoo. Had a brain stem audiometry yesterday (I'm not sure if that's the right term in English but I'm not looking it up, just want to leave all of this behind me now) and another (thank god) doctor talked to me afterwards. There is some kind of injury to my inner ear, he doesn't know what it is but as the onset was related to the bad fall he says it's possible I cracked my skull. Yay. Being a biddy is fun almost all of the time innit;-) By the time he told me I didn't have a brain tumor I felt ready to faint and I plumb forgot to ask whether or not it's a good idea to walk around with a cracked skull;-) Oh well guess I'll ask my GP about that one. It's been a month anyway so I don't suppose it matters now one way or the other. Anyway, my hearing was a bit better as compared to my visit a couple of weeks ago but he said the hearing as such won't continue to improve from now on, but the distortion phenomena and tinnitus (both of which come with damage to the inner ear) may continue to improve over several months. Things may also get worse but he honestly didn't think that they would. It's a relief... The thirty minutes I spent in the waiting room between the test and the talk... don't wanna do that again. phew, I'll bet you were pleased to hear that, Kit. Brain stem audiometry, no, I don't think that's English, more like Wolof or something, but I get the general idea. And basically you were correct all along. I'll get you in to examine my brain next time it goes walkabout (it's usually a Tuesday). Skulls heal like other bones so I guess you'll recover naturally, though you might stick some sellotape over the cracked bit to protect it from werewolves and things.
That reminds me, I saw a pie stall at the market today with a sign saying 'Wild boar pies, from our own farmed wild boars.' Anyone got any ideas how you can be wild and farmed at the same time? Maybe it's a Melton Mowbray thing.

Fabulous news Kit, although there has to be something wrong with the old brain if you are a biddy. For years I thought I had a brain tumour, m-i-l having died of one, but my doc said if I'd had the sharp pain for so long, then it's nothing, I did have an xray type thingy and the whole village laughed when there was nothing there!!! although I did keep insisting that they did in fact find a brain.
You can relax now and enjoy the joys of spring. Is tinnitus a sort of mashed potato noise cos I get that sometimes, not really a noise at all, just something!
jno, sorry I did mean to congratulate you on your anniversary, what's it to do with greeks, are you grecian??

Delighted to have reminded you of a wild boar jno. Always at your service;-)
My tinnitus, Neti, is one shrill tone - the kind of shrill you instinctively wish to protect yourself from - along with a noise similar to when you hear the ocean in a seashell, but louder. I've also heard my own heart beating (not in the moderate way you can sometimes hear your own heart lying on your side with your ear against the pillow, mine's been much more intense, I thought at first they were doing some work involving machines outside my window) and there have been more experimental days when they (the gremlins in my ear:) have run through every possible frequency, like when you search for a station on an old-fashioned radio but you just get tones of different kinds. My gremlins don't mash potatoes but my gremlins wouldn't, me being a lazy biddy:) Though come to think of it the heartbeat thingy might be described as mashing potatoes, actually. The very first doctor I saw said that hearing your heartbeat like that indicated a swelling, so Neti if you think your potato-mashing might in fact be your heartbeat it might be worth looking into - your ear:) Although I'm sure it's normal to get weird phenomena from time to time so wouldn't worry really:)

Kit that is such good news...your head must be as hard as Swedish pavements...I have been meaning to ask you...the strange names Ikea give their stuff...are they real Swedish words or swedish chef noises? The guy who does our decorating has tinnitus from falling off a ladder. he says you get used to it after a while but it blocks out hearing people if he's not looking at them...we thought he was ignoring us till he mentioned it.
We used to go to a Greek Restaurant in our Student days in Bristol. It was called the Oddyseas in Whiteladies Road where our flat was...it was brilliant, huge omelettes and chips and cheap. One saturday night I kid you not, the boiler in the kitchen exploded (after it was closed) and blew the whole restaurant into the middle of the street. Sadly it never reopened. DH used to have a cheese and mint omelette can you imagine :-(
