Reporting answers

For a start, this section should have the headings "Suggestion title" and "What is your suggestion?", not "Question title" and "What is your question?". But that's not why I clicked on the AB Suggestions button. I just read the question "Does anybody know how many horses die from show-jumping each year?" The first answer was "What a pointless question". I have reported this for being abusive, since there was not a better category that fitted. There is no dialogue box to explain why I think the answer is abusive. I was thinking of ticking "irrelevant", but that's not quite it, either. I just find it annoying when people who have nothing better say actually say something, especially when it is the first answer. I'm sure there are some people who look at their favourite section for unanswered questions, so they will miss this one. Also, imagine the disappontment of the questioner when he gets that email to tell him he has an answer and reads that! My suggestion is that ABers who give answers that are reported should have a warning, then, if they are reported again, they should be barred from AB for a month.

I also meant to say that I cannot see how anybody could consider the question pointless. I have criticised some questions myself which could be more easily and quickly answered by looking in a dictionary or an atlas ("Where is Albania?" was one), but was roundly condemned for doing so.
well said bert and good idea bednobs.
we have no idea why someone asks a certain question, we don't know them or their life.
it may not be a relevant question to us and our lives but this person may well have been a showjumper... trainer...breeder...animal rights....or someone writing an essay...or merely curious....there are all sorts of reasons why someone may want this answer
people who think they have to decide which the worthy questions are should be reported.
i am actually curious now - how many die?
