Given this option, would you use it (no need to get personal) and would you be able to stick to it? Or would it just get the better of you.

I think i need that to remind me , I keep forgetting and not taking other peoples advice to ignore and report.
I am hardly on here in the day and don;t see the bannings , at night i come on to answer the interesting questions and end up coming across posts abusing me when usuallly i have not even been online, that is why i retaliate, i hate it but i won;t ignore it, people are obsessed with trying to run me down,
The only obvious problem with the ignore function is that you want the ignored person to know that they are being ignored. Often silence speaks volumes, so it is much better to not get involved or just go through the motions of ignoring, rather than actually selecting an ignore function.
Personally speaking I dont ignore particular users. More often I ignore certain threads. Sometimes though, certain users post an irrelevant or abusive point within a thread, which the AB Editor deigns to keep, so I just ignore it as if I havent read it or it has no affect on me whatsoever. Usually I couldnt give two shrivelled monkey nuts either way.
Use of the site just requires some self control and a laissez-fair mind set. Rather than get worked up, take a deep breath, think of Lauren Cooper (Catherine Tate) and mouth the word: whatever.

You know me GS, I tend to ignore most of the cr@p on here anyway. The times I do answer it's usually to point out the stupidity or to say my piece and go.
I can't understand how people can get so nasty to people they've never met before. I mean if you don't like someone you meet on a day to day basis and you have to interact with them, then you can generally find it in you to be civil. Why that doesn't apply on here I will never know.
Anyhow, that doesn't answer your question. Becasue I tend not to get involved in the madness then sometimes I chose to ignore certain pixels and sometimes I choose to answer. I'm very hard to wind up in day to day life and AB is no exception. That being the case I probably wouldn't need to use an 'ignore user' option.
It might be useful for some members though. However their gobs/typing hand might get in the way.
