I have been reading some derogatory comments from certain members regarding chatterbank and how it should be removed. I ask "why"?

As I see it, I do not go into or ever read music or sport as neither interest me. Should I start to post on music and sport that the Ed should remove these topics simply because I don't like them? If something does not float my boat I do not have to go into that topic or bother with it, so why do so many ask or demand that chatterbank is removed and votes accordingly as if it offends them they do not even have to look at that topic or the posts?

Seems that the much abused B&S is pretty free now and the daft, zany posts and comments are on chatterbank and that offends nobody as it's my choice to come here and read topics and I think it's a great addition to AB and I do hope that it remains.

because its an answerbank, if you have a question ask it and it usually falls within one of teh catergories. No need for chatterbank. Go on msn for that. I have posted a few times on it but really wouldnt miss it at all.
O'Reilly for Prime Minister

(dove claps and salutes )
Well said that man, spot on !

Why on earth is there even a NO option ?

So far it is working very very well, I think anyway, full of flowery nothingness but mostly loads of goodwill
4getmenot, no, that doesn't work, and has been discussed endlessly over the years.

The dynamics of MSN and CB are very different.

AB has decided to revert to providing an area where people can chat away in the corner, and I applaud them loudly for the courage to reverse what was earlier stated to be an irreversible decision.
hey I'm giving my opinion. I dont like it, I;m sure theres plenty of forums people can chat on
when you think of it most of the topic end up reverting to chatty types anywho

other wise ther would be one q and one a
most of these posts have at least 20 answers
Yes - this one now :)

You have most certainly contributed volumes of chat to B&S, everybody can now do it here without penalty, provided of course it's decent.
like o reily said nobody is forcing anyone to post here are they?
If it keeps all the cr@p (other than the stuff I produce), abuse and lunatic ramblings in once place it can stay as long as it likes!
why did they get rid of it last time?
Masses of imposters, and ongoing nastiness - although it must be stressed that it never approached as bad as the worst of ghastly exchanges in B&S in recent months.

People complained and complained and it got pulled. It is to be hoped that it will never get that bad again. Just the occasional mad gibbon hopefully for the surreal touch.
i think it was something to do with people wer taking stuff to heart and it was getting a bit to bitchy(can i say that)
so you dont think it might get like that again?
hi BTW 4get how are ya long time no speak;~)

it could do i spose but that all depends on the individual remember the russian person?

is he/she still here?
I did say hoped !

Maybe people are 'exercising restraint' to get it through the first week. Anyway, so what, if it does, and disappears again, it just reappears in B&S. It's a perennial feature of life and websites, gets discussed endlessly. Do you moderate vigorously ? Do you let people get on with it, intervening only when it gets too nasty ?

One site I was at introduced a ridiculous system of penalties, 'you have breached rule 4a and are suspended for 6 hours'. I had a look this morning, it's moribund.
I myself dont think the niceness will last long. and hi back at ya tfb.
Stick around anyway and boost the niceness.

Could it ever get worse than B&S on a roll ?
yep because at least in B & S some people would shut up after a while in here they think they can get away with every rule because its chatterbank
Agree 100% O'Reilly. And if it all turns to nastiness, only the nasty people will go there and the rest of us will stay away. Nothing to lose really. It has certainly made Body and Soul a better place already.
those disenters shud be beaten with a stick
