cunningham flies again

(This is a rerun of a question I asked a while back in the main category. Didn't get any replies there - could it be that the real buffs dwell in subcategories only? Sorry to be such a pain in the proverbial but I really want that poster - if indeed it exists.)

I used to own a black-and-white photo postcard from a Martha Graham production where dancer Merce Cunningham comes flying through the air in one giant leap. A woman (Graham?) sits at her desk in a jaded pose studying his flight toward her as if she were assessing his flying techniques rather than anticipating his company. Cunningham's body is cram full with energy, he's like a spring just released; looking at the picture you feel he must surely bounce once he lands.

I'd love to have this photo on my wall as a poster but haven't been able to find it. I'm good at advanced googling but search engines do provide different results in different countries - so if you're in the mood for some googling and you don't live in Sweden...

Wow that's amazing Vinny, such eye contact and they're so relaxed - hope he doesn't turn around and go out to lunch...

I saw a documentary about Merce Cunningham some years ago and he said something fantastic, I've forgotten what the story was but he said: It wasn't really a mistake - I just didn't know any better.

I love that.

No this isn't where the action's at, Vinny - you didn't get my email?? I sent it late last night. It didn't bounce back but seeing as you're over here dancing with Cunningham again... Sorry I haven't left you a message here sooner but I've been unable to sign in; wasn't until I tried going via beta that I succeeded. Oh do find us won't you!

Additional note: I posted this question in December and have since come across some photos by Barbara Morgan featuring the Martha Graham Dance Company. The touch is the same so I believe Morgan is our woman. But still can't find this particular photo.

Welcome, possums!

we'll dance and we'll dance...

...and then...

...we'll catch a glimpse of our reflection in the window...

...and then we'll dance some more!
That's more like us Kit! You can't be dancing about, you've hurt your back, and my knees are misbehaving today, so I'll sit this one out!

Neti's nees and that's the best of me!!
tut tut, neti, trying to link to Project Gutenberg images to decorate the walls with, can't have that...
here I is my little nymphettes....oh lordy, if you think I'm cavorting in the buff you've got another think coming. In fact
I'll just strike a jaded pose for a while
Hi All found you in double quick time today thanks to Kit.
Hope you all had a good Easter.
KitThe biddy in the front of the line looks very much like me except I have grey hair. :o)
Had the decorator here today painting my lounge doors. They've had 2 coats of undercoat and he's glossing tomorrow. He's so slow but very thorough and he takes pride in his work so I just let him get on with it.
I'm having to look for a gardener now as my usual one has another job which means he can't do it. I might just have a go at it myself.
Maybe going to see Teabag on Friday as he is playing keyboard in the Big Band again, that is if I can find someone to go with me.
Have another challenge on his nickname is 'G man' he wants me to teach him to jive so I have arranged a date for next week for a session. Could be interesteing!!
Went to a lovely pub yesterday for .lunch, called The Stanhope Arms in Stanton by Dale. very nice. I'm sure we'll be going there again sometime.
Off for a cuppa tea now see ya later gater(s) :o)x

Well done, jno (getting here)!

I sent an email to Ed last night and had a reply this morning with her blessings, saying she hoped we would enjoy ourselves here.

It wasn't exactly the lurgy, Woofy (but thanks anyway) - I had a fall on an icy pavement and twisted my knee, which I seem to be doing all the time because of my straight stiff weak back with no @ss muscles attached to it (TMI? he he sorry), I fall instead of bending. Arthritic finger though I don't know anything at all about. Perhaps you're thinking of The Madonna of the Finger on my tumblelog page, ha ha ha! (At the bottom of the first page.) (I don't remember if you were with us the first time I posted the address so that's why I'm posting it again, sorry if I'm repeating myself.)

Neti speaking Swedish! It isn't very easily translated as it is a play on words - but I can confirm that it's certainly Swedish. And she's copying and pasting - Neti what are you on?!

Well I'll be off in a while to the hairdresser et cetera, could you all please pray to the Madonna of the no-muscles-you-know-where that I don't fall again...

Here's a special request from the ants on Robinia's kitchen floor
Evenin Dudes...!
nice to hear from you all.
yo (:O)
It translates thusly;

A litttle bit of sh1t in a corner, is better than a life in a cold hell!!

Sorry Shaney, I didn't thank you for having us, slipped my mind completely until I saw Robi say thanks. So: Thanks. / You don't have to wear a tutu Shaney, I have another act in mind for you entirely, a more wagnerian one.

The hairdresser cut my hair for an hour and a half! No perm or dye (or even washing, as I do that at home before leaving) just cutting it - for ninety minutes! I felt like a sheep. In a good way! I changed my hairdresser after ten years or so, why is it so difficult to do that... In this case it was traumatic as the one I wanted instead was the other one that works at the same salon - it's a small salon so there are just the two of them... Embarrassing.

Wonder how old ken lee is doing these days...

well, I don't mind going to dance classes for a stretch
