Perhaps AB could do with monitoring the site more closely, more regularly, and for longer periods ?
They could also do with an 'immediate response' system, in that as soon as someone starts posting 'the nasties', us sensible types could flag up some sort of 'yoohoo...........he's over here and posting now..........' sort of thing and getting the offending posts removed immediately.
Munkeeluvva I've seen on here people suggesting that AB uses some sort of IP banning software. Can you tell me how it would work please as you seem to know about these things!? Only if it works the way I think it does I think I can see a way round it. Ta very much.
There is a problem banning offenders whno do not use static IP addys, maybe the AB technical staff can get around that with a bit of application

Meglet, that's a proxy answer. rofl :-))))))
how come some of the evil bad ones (lol) from the old days are 'perma banned' how did ed manage to do that?
You mean like the barsteward that stole pixi, estie and my ids? grrrrr
I like your new name dot! LMAO
Didn't even see your fingers move Munkeeluvva!

Yeah Dot, I know about that bit. Anyone got any other answers then? My idea the oher day was shot down in flames and is lying here in front of me twitching!
You can permantly ban usernames but the users themselves are still on though aren't they?
yes they are if they use a new one, I had to register a back up yesterday cos i overposeted, as my oroginal user name is now deleted. But if a person's home ISP addy is banned they cannot obtain a validation from the registration system. If they have a static ISP, they can be perma banned. Unless they change ISPs, but that is niot straight forward and can be costly and takes time. It ios the other type of ISPs that are harder to restrict i understand. thoise that people log on from in internet cafes or buiness systems I think. Not 100% sure.
But if the 'offensive posts' could be removed almost at source, then it wouldn't really matter who it was and how often they managed to change their user names or IP addresses.......they would never reach the boards........
I don't agree with the abuse, but proving who wrote it is virtually impossible, same as abusive texts, they can prove whos phone it is, but not who sent it,

This is a very very hard thing to prove, so I still say it would never get to court, if you can do it munkee, please do and get the site cleared up and maybe we can be happy for a little, while, doubt it will happen though don't you, ?
Sorry B00, just noticed "Spiffing" thanks, great word, not used often enough.
Is there any need, anytime by anyone to use abuse and foul language on here?

As the AnswerBank system is designed to filter such words, why cannot it be programmed to delete a post instantly each time those words appear?

And also delete offensive usernames.
Evening sir & ray. The cavalry has arrived. I agree with many of the points made but there just has to be a system, if AB choses to use it, whereby offensive posts can be removed before they cause upset. Additionally, I believe that if it is within their scope, they should ban a user for life when they use some of the language and insults we have witnessed on here in the past. One particular individual seems to have disappeared and let's hope it is permanent and not just a holiday.
sir.prize the words cannot be filtered as the abuser changes them to be mis-spelled but still clearly make their point, I so it to if I wanna say sh!t lol
the only way would be IP addresses and I doubt very much if anyone sits an uses a cyber cafe to abuse on here in the middle of the night, its normally their own pc surely so how could it be so difficult
Hmmm, i'd be wary of using a system which is profanity sensitive, what about if if you post an innocent word with a swearword contained with it? Would this also extend to usernames? Does Cugetit have to start sweating? heh!

Good evening 'Sir' Gugetit . . . .

To weeal and B00, I certainly understanding your logic..

Just shows, it takes a few 'thinkers' to find the technie problems. My grey cells let me down again. Back to the drawing board for me.
That's he problem innit Sir Prize? Everytime a good idea is thought of there's 10 other reasons not to implement it.

The only solution i've found to be extremely effective is not to be here myself when it all kicks off once the bottle of White Lightening have been consumed by the oafs.
Good one, BOO, but I don't feel myself getting even hot so no problems there, (I hope). With all the modern technology available, the filtering out of rubbish must surely be an easy task for those at the helm.
