I suggested that chatterbank only be open between 8pm and 8am to stop all the night time hassle, bullying, and naughty posts. What do people think? Anything urgently needed can be asked on other posts, surely enough topics to cover it

Can see where your coming from 4get- but why should a whole category be closed just because a few users can't behave like the adults we're all supposed to be?

Get rid of those users and it should run pretty smoothly, true there will still be the heated errr debate every now and then but hopefully none of the nasty abusive crap we've had lately.
Although that seems like a good idea I think its unfair to the people who dont cause hassle. It could also mean the nastiness is taken into other sections. Plus if the nasties dont get their fix of venom spitting they may decide to come out in the daytime and do it. (not that the time matters anyway)

I hardly come on here at night and if I do Im usually away by 9.00 so only hear about the abuse and nastiness, maybe if I saw it all first hand I would be yelling yes to your suggestion :(
What about overseas ABers such as 'EngTeach'?

That means they could only log on during UK daytime, hardly fair seeing as the internet is a world wide thingy
4get all the bullying and nastiness will just be crammed into that short amount of time, it won't stop it and I agree with B00, why should it spoil it for those who know how to behave themselves?
Sorry to hijack this, but I still think the 'ignore' button is better than closing the topic.

No need to penalise our many insomniacs for the sake of a few drunken gomerils.

p.s. I think you may have mixed your times up a bit. lol
Question Author
yes agreed BOO and others but most come on at night and if they find they cant then they will either go away or start using the site as it should be used. You must agree hardly happens through day and when it does its from a hndful of people that come on here at night too
Question Author
and aka yes it isnt fair but the ones that do behave can surely ask in other topics
I know it's been suggested many times before and always seems to be shot down but why can't we have night time moderators who can zap trouble when it starts but leave others just to get on with it?
lol, still see where you're coming from 4get, but im sticking to me guns (heh!). I don't see why the majority should be penalised just because the minority regularly spit their dummies out?
Good Point Ying, a busy forum like this IMO should have moderators, DS & C4 Forums are all moderated
well I suppose you could ask in other topics 4get but then they would could get crammed up with meaningless posts and shove the proper questions to the bottom of the page. If it was a proper question fair enough but most of the stuff that I post on cb is daft and doesnt really fit anywhere else but a chat bit, Im sure other users are the same.

Since the original cb closed I deliberately kept away from ab for a long time as I didnt want to spoil the other sections with silly posts.
Question Author
but then you could save that for the day. Meanlingless posts are just that
All this place needs is a decent moderator. Don't close it down because of a minority of people.
sorry 4get, i agree with B00 and it would only end up in other categorys anyway , same way it used to go in in body and soul before we got chatterbank. I think the ignore button is an excellent idea but would our natural curiosity stop us from choosing it cause we dont want to miss out on anything???
Question Author
dont be sorry you can have an opinion unrulie :-) and as for curiosity thats you own choice
Ignore user button is a nonsense .
You are adult enough to ignore or not.
If you need a button then surely self help courses would be of more use than clicking on a button online.

Moderators are the answer.
But not ones who use the site.
The only site ive ever used or seen used where moderators were totally impartial was brainformation.
All other sites the moderators either turned blind eye or removed or ignored the hostility from friends.
On certain sites the moderators instigated the arguements then when it kicked off theyd reprimand the people theyd started on themselves.

Some people have short memories.
I already have an 'Ignore' button. It is midway between 'Business & Finance' and 'Family'.

so it would make no difference whether it was shut during the day or not.

BTW, Wouldn't it be more sensible to shut it at night rather than the daytime?
Question Author
yes people can ignore legend but a button would clear it hence you wouldnt have to read through all the pants
Question Author
erm yes gen isnt between 8pm and 8am night time then??
Yes 4getmenot but that is when you want to have it OPEN according to the post at the top of this thread.
