MM Links Solutions June 2008 [Week 3]

It is now time to reveal all. What was it that the Dinky Duke had in mind to go with those four published links?

Were the masses who went for 'lost luggage', 'flight path' and 'departure lounge' on to a winner or a loser? Did Lorraine Chase influence the Dinky Duke as much as the several entrants who went for 'Luton Airport'? Did Mr Ont-ice change a right answer for a wrong one? or a wrong one for a right one? Was the Dinky Duke as depressed about air travel as was Christiana?

So many questions, but fortunately all is about to be revealed.


The Dinky Duke's chosen links were:

HAND Luggage
CHARTER Flight

So, Who got clearance from the control tower and landed the points?

As it turned out, this was not a particularly high scoring week.

Alibobs, who always tries to be first out of the shrubbery, hit the mark immediately with AIRPORT TERMINAL, instantly followed by fordward with the same suggestion for 2 points each. Surprisingly, only one further entrant chose this pairing.

paulineward, as entrant #14 at 9:05 was next to score with HAND LUGGAGE for 2 points. This link was popular with five later entrants.

The third link of CHARTER FLIGHT lasted until 9:20 when it was spotted by Jan1956 who also matched HAND LUGGAGE for a total of 3 points.

The fourth link of DEPARTURE GATE didn't find any takers until new player Poppy-red chose it at 9:28 for 2 points. Welcome to the game Poppy-red, and a great start. Amazingly, this pairing then went on to be the most popular of the four with seven others plumping for it - but then Mr Ont-ice went and changed his mind (and his answer), leaving himself with just a single match instead of two.

Talking of double-hitters, the only other one this week was london_lassy. (2 points)

But better still, there was a TRIPLE HITTER this week and 3 points went to AllyLally who now becomes

After 3 weeks and with two still to go, the scoreboard looks like this:


5 points - AllyLally

4 points - Alibobs, Aquagility, beejay1124, Dustybun, fordward, jan1956, paulineward

3 points - jimJOOLS, ladyalex, slaney


So you see it is tightly bunched up there with so many on those top three slots, and even the 15 players on 2 points are still in with a chance. With the game still so open you will need to be sure to participate again next week. And think on this AllyLally, those 3 points could so easily have been 6 with an earlier start. Last month crofter discovered the advantage of an alarm clock when in a similar situation in the KM game so, if possible, it pays to be early. (Sorry Ont-ice, we don't expect you to get up in the middle of the night just to play.)


This is gen2 saying "Bye For Now" and you should be back in the safe hands of crofter next weekend as he returns from Tenerife late on Friday.

Gen2. I don't understand where Mr. O lost the other point. He changed Flight Plan to Flight Service but NEITHER were correct. So he just gets the one point for Departure Gate.
He changed a wrong one for another wrong one.

Of course you are right Ont-ice, I just get confused by changed entries - so much better when people stick with their original impressions. I promise I will concentrate harder next time. On the positive side, Bert has still been credited with 1 point (as have you).
