Regarding the avatars they seem to me like they're the same icons that accompany the topics in the left sidebar. Perhaps you get to choose your favourite sport when you create your profile, and you're then assigned that sport's icon for your avatar? Looks neat and everything but I'd really want to choose my own avatar regardless of what my favourite topic might be on the regular AnswerBank so I for one am hoping they don't decide to do something similar here.
I'm guessing it's run by different people, yeah... I don't think they want us to know, people have asked about it before. But then, it's been a long time since we had somebody communicate with us as much as our present Spare Ed does, so this might be the right time to pry :)

Thanks sirprize. I knew AB used to part of Crystal Maze but thought it had now changed. Still at Kettering though.
