An amnesty would be excellent.....any defaulters should be banned for a limited time - even judges tell you the length of a sentence.

Cazzy, you are always so sensible and a voice of reason.
''starting with SAB and going downhill from there''

You can go 'downhill' from SAB? I did not know this...
Cazzzzzz.....I think because many of us are friends on FB and swap emails etc you start to get really familiar. It's reasonable for people to not want to post a personal question in their 'usual' name. I asked Ed about this once and he said having a another ID for such questions should be OK.
snags, even the comments on YouTube make SAB look like Harvard. And that's without venturing into the dark web <shudders and hangs garlic round neck>
Who was QuentinCrisp (sp may be wrong) ? They were abusive and I believe is no longer on here.
I agree that perhaps if I were to venture into Body and Soul with a 'particular' problem, I really wouldn't want to find references being made to it on CB.
So, a covert sensible name is fair enough, I think.............
yes I agree ummm, but there should be some clarification in the rules regarding multiple user IDs from the Ed there are too many grey area's
I didn't see any abuse from Quentin....

I think it was Yogi :-(
well he was to me.
and yet the ed has allowed yogi to continue to post, but has a rules about multiple IDs

this is inconsistant.
I have never had any issues with anyone on AnswerBank, but I get totally confused with multiple usernames as you are never sure who you are dealing with. Is it the same Poster or someone pretending to be that person. Multiple Usernames leaves the site wide open to mischief makers and unless the Ed knows better then it's difficult to control.
I know some Abers are in touch with other users of AB outside of this site but I am not.
There is a problem with Trolls on AB especially at weekends when they think it is not being monitored, I only wish the Tech guys can come up with a solution which would prevent them logging on in the first place.
I missed that Society.
the only solution is regular moderating and allowing users to register 2 name (one private/one chat name) under one main email address, no msns/gmail/hotmail/yahoo's
I've only got hotmail....
do you have an ISP?
I presume so...lol.

I've had my hotmail since about 1997....
I am nothing if not inconsistent.

Generally if a user isn't abusive (I am not sure about QC/Society thing - detail would be appreciated) they don't get noticed.

Having a second ID for serious questions (or "dodgy" ones I suppose...) just isn't going to flit across our radar.

McMouse - I have not recieved an email from you regarding this subject (to my memory). Please contact me here: [email protected] with detail of your set-up and I will see what the problem is.

In terms of clarifying the rules: Don't have extra username to be abusive with. Or to shorten that: "Be nice, and you'll be fine."

All the best

Spare Ed
so there is no ban on multiple user names then..?
Ed, I contacted you about the QC abuse and got a reply saying it's been looked into. That's about it. Since I usually ignore abuse and such, and never thought things would come to this, it never occurred to me to keep a record otherwise I'd have taken a screen-shot for future reference.
No Cazzzz...as long as you stay nice.
