Amnesty for banned Abers

An amnesty would be excellent.....any defaulters should be banned for a limited time - even judges tell you the length of a sentence.

well splosh, you are not supposed to instigate nor incite trouble nor persecute nor stalk other abers. you are not supposed to be argumemtative and abusive to others and you are not supposed to register and use multiple ids solely for the purpose of causing trouble and being abusive, you are not supposed to try to instill your will or press a point if the ed has made it clear you are out of order.

How does this multiple id thing work? I've got just one id, but have encouraged members of the household to get on to AB (including my 93 year old mother-in-law). We have one wireless network and a choice of six laptop/pc/netbooks. For a while Mrs McM had an id but that has disappeared. Attempts by her and family to create id's are successful but then cannot register.
I won't let them use my id and infact they don't know that I'm McMouse.

You have to register with a different email account each time. My son and daughter have an account on here. Not really used though.
I have other ID's but they are from the days when the banning system was different. I don't see anything wrong with having different user names as long as the spare names are used to ask serious questions....and not cause trouble.

Errr, the banned users were not just banned at the drop of a hat remember, they were all given warnings over and over that if they didn't change the ways of their posts they would be banned, they didn't change so they got banned.
Do you really think they would suddenly change if they were allowed back on (especially as some seem to now think they have some kind of legitimate reason for a vendetta against the site and it's users)

Truth to tell, I am sad that noknow has gone.
When he wasn't 'off on one' with regard to who was/wasn't a troll, I quite enjoyed sparring with him and no-one can deny that he had a dry and quick sense of humour.
However, he was warned on numerous occasions to let his current 'fixation' drop.......by the actual folks who run the site ! Whether it rankled, or not, whether he felt it biased, or not, he had a choice...........and he chose to ignore it.
It wasn't like he didn't know it was a possibility.............there is previous example of the Ed's commitment to enforce the Site Rules.
Much as I might wish for the Ed to relent..........there would be no good reason then to keep the ban on 'you know who' and I'm not hypocritical enough to call for that.
