Just seen on the news that Claire Rayner has died aged 79. She was a great
journalist, agony aunt and tireless campaigner for the NHS. It has been alleged
she said that if David Cameron does any more damage to the NHS she will come
back and haunt him!

As an aside have any of you ever written to an agony column and did you get a
reply?

I'm thinking of writing and confessing that I'm becoming addicted to AB, and asking what should I do?

Claire Rayner seems to have been a good, caring, woman.

I did many years ago when I was young and insecure in a teen relationship, and yes,I did get a reply which helped me enourmously
<<It has been alleged she said that if David Cameron does any more damage to the NHS she will come back and haunt him! <<<

Did she say what damage he had done in his short time as PM?

I was never a fan of Claire Rayner as in my opinion she could sort other people out, but could not sort her own marriage out.

She was a great campaigner and deserved the acclaim that she was accorded.
No never....I have friends I can talk to.

RIP Claire...
What was wrong with her marriage Sqad?
Many years ago I remember watching Claire Rayner on TV. She was an avowed atheist, and the extremely patronising manner in which she replied to some poor soul who had dared to mention God sickened me. I, for one ,will not miss her.
I liked Claire Rayner, until she decided she was important.

ummmm....I thought that her husband left her some years ago.....maybe I am wrong.

I once saw her in a debate about call girls and a guy who ran a brothel put a good argument for sex outside of marriage.....he didnt shout or scream but debated in a cool and informed manner. Claire Raynor, put the opposing opinion in a very bombastic, sarcastic and patronising way to he opponent.
What I seen on the News today was that her husband said that he'd lost his best friend...
That's twice today, Sqad, that you and I have had a convergence of opinions. Must be something in the water.
ummmm...you may well be correct......I must be mistaking her for another "Agony Aunt"
I wrote to her as a teenager with a relationship question and received a prompt and sensitive reply, which i found very helpful.
mike....don´t worry......the applecart is just around the corner..;-)
How sad. Did she have cancer?
Long before Claire Rayner there was Marjorie Proops from the Daily Mirror, and before her Evelyn Holme from "Woman" magazine.
mrs chappie..........breast cancer.
Thanks Sqad.
If Claire Rayner was an avowed athiest, how come she believed in life after death?
