Is there a way to stop receiving answer alerts to your original post?

When a post of yours starts a debate between two posters it is a tad annoying when you keep recieving alerts and they have nothing to do with the original post.

It's okay, I have "stumbled" across the "Got an answer?" box.

Cheers and I will try and not be so silly next time.

When your'e logged in, and on your original post, there's a box - up and to the right of your post, that you can click on and that will 'close' the question. Responses will still appear on the site, but you won't be sent any e.mails. This used to bug me too.
Beat me!
That wasn't a request - I mean to answer!!!
I might be Top Totty but I must also be a bit thick as I can't see anything about closing the question on my original post. ???? HELP. Could you spell it out for me.

Top totty - When you have your question open, the is a wee box with "Got an answer?" in the red banner. If you click this box, posters can still reply to your question but you do not receive the email alerts.

If you are that Top Totty, perhaps I can come round and show you the banner.
