Personalising Latest Posts

It would be really good if the latest posts box could be personalised to your own interests.

For example I have no interest in anything from Q&P or R&S so I get a bit bored when the latest posts box is filled with Q's from those categories. It would be nice if I could tick a box somewhere that to show that I was most interested in topics such as Body and Soul and Media & TV, then my latest posts box would only show them from the topics I have selected.

If I felt like taking a look in my least favourite topics, I could if I felt like it but this way people would be less likely to miss posts on things they might have decent answers for.

What d'ya reckon?

Yep, something we'd like to do. We'd probably have it on a favourites/all pivot so you could come back to the main site stuff if you wanted. Would be very handy for Q&P users in particular I think.

I'll let you know when it's in development (don't hold your breath, yet!)

That sounds like a good idea.

How about if you were to click on a subject and the latest posts came up relating to that subject? (Or am I being thick and that's want you're saying?)

It's not a bad idea. I would suggest a little "star" next to it to add/remvoe a section to your favourites.

Happy to hear more ideas on the subject regarding implementation.

oooo no, im nosy, i like to look at em all, well apart from Business & Finance and Motoring, don't like those 2, infact tidy the place up, get rid of those :P

Please, no. There are many topics I don't open because I have no interest in them, but often a 'recent post' from one of those topics grabs my attention.

That's a very good idea Evianbaby. At the weekend Latest Posts are jam packed with Q&P posts.

You wouldn't need to miss any though. With my idea if you still wanted to see anything you just wouldn't selected any preferences so you would still see all the normal latest posts. And with the way the Ed wants to do it (from what I gather) you could flick between your preferences and the normal list.

perhaps just makle the latest posts box longer ... have it contain say 15 posts instead of 6-7...
