Advice needed. Please help!!!

I called and kidded my girl friend from my office number. Without knowing that I have called, she called back to my office number and spoken very very very harshly with filthy words to the receptionist. The receptionist said to me that she is going to take this issue to the MD.
Meanwhile I informed this to my MD’s PA.
This happened 2 Days before.
Meanwhile I convinced both the receptionist and my MD’s PA. There is 50% of chance that they won’t take this to MD.
But iam worried that incase if they inform this to my MD and if he keeps this in mind without asking me it will affect my carrear.
Shall I speak about this to my MD directly? Please advise

It is strange that sathymoorthy 56 asks questions but doesn't respond to replies with any further comments. Perhaps things will alter now that he has qualified for an Avatar.!!!

You really need to consider whether or not you are of a standard which your planned career may require. If your girl friend offended the receptionist there is every chance the receptionist would report to the MD, and correctly so for she is not there to take filthy words from friends of staff. Speak to the MD though don't expect any sympathy. Notably, you do not mention what was said by you to the girl friend when using the employer's phone. Guess who created the problem.
You used your office phone for a personal joke phone call? That alone is a disciplinary offence in some offices. The receptionist is quite within her rights to report the incident. How did they know it was you originated this call?
I would come clean and tell the MD before the others get to him. Say it was a stupid prank which went wrong.

Your company will have, or should have, some kind of harrassment policy. This policy will aim to protect employees and aim to create a safe and pleasant environment for all. Your actions have made the receptionist feel upset and angry, also, if you follow this up by trying to coerce her in to not going to the MD, you are in breach of policy. Now the company could be justified in using this against you and debating an appropriate punishment. Or, they may be realistic and see that this is a tupid prank that has back fired, depends on how the receptionist has been made to feel.
When you say filthy language, are we talking 'phone sex' or insults?
If she came in on a chat where your missus is threatening you with the nurses outfit, cucumber and inflatable sheep, then she may just laugh it off.
If however your missus has threatened to remove her head with a rusty spoon and feed her still warm carcass to a pack of feral tabby cats, then you may have more problems.
I'd quit in advance, just to be on the safe side ;-)

Every MD in the country will have made prank calls when they were 'spotty youths' (which I hope you are!) and will have a certain amount of sympathy. However you do not say anything about the content of the call you made. Maybe (Tara20) it was in very poor taste or worrying and caused distress to your girlfriend, hence the volley of abuse the receptionist received.
If it does go to the top and you are good at your job, you will be looked at more favourably.
Hands up time, appologise and look big.

To me it's all very confusing and matters are even more so because you have posted in the wrong section. Sorry if I appear to be unsympathetic but I fail to see that your problem is of any help to the AB Editor.:-

I suggested the first part of your response in my first reply, kat - this is not a proper use of office phones. His girlfriend must have been able to trace the call (so not withheld) in order to ring back. "Kidding my girlfriend" doesn't actually explain what he said, or who he pretended to be. It's just not on, from a traceable office number.
I feel that there is reason to doubt the validity of the questioner. He joined us last month and asked a single question without responding to the answers which he was given and then some 5weeks later asks a further nine questions without a single word of appreciation or otherwise to ABers who answered his questions.
It will be interesting to see if I end up in the 'dog house' for my comments.
