Do you worry about??????

After leaving a comment on cazz's Fear of Dentist' I wonder how many of you worry about the cleanliness of people who come into contact with you. I know doctors, nurses etc are supposed to wash their hands after each patient but I'm sure they all don't.
There used to be a phlebotonist sp? who takes your blood at my local hospital who never washed her hands between patients and there were such a lot of people complained about it she finally got the sack as she had been warned so many times.
does it bother you that someone's hands have been in contact with someone else and then they touch you without washing their hands first or is it me just being fussy?
Also, would you ask someone if they have washed their hands or changed their rubber gloves?

In a cafe today the girl replaced some clean cups by holding a few in one hand, with one finger inside each cup!

I went into a sandwich shop and saw the girl that works there holdind a slice of bread in her hand (not wearing gloves) and buttering it with a knife in her other hand. I walked out!

The worse ones for cleanliness i have seen are doctors in hospitals, then nurses and cleaners. I have witnessed appalling lack of care when tending patients, in respect of hygiene, and this was in a supposed top notch, brand new hospital in London. The same can be said for ones where i have visited relatives, where the medical staff don't wash hands, nor use the hygiene spray, and then go from patient to patient, awful

My mum's doctor examined her at her home and she asked him if he would like to wash his hands after. He replied no thankyou!!!

I've seen one person in a Tesco's go from chopping meat to handling fish......walked out ar complaining.

DT, shouldn't they be wearing protective gloves when handling produce this way. I know they do in sainsburys.

I'm always aware of where other peoples hands have been. Especially in the shop where i'm touching money and stock all day. When people hand you change you can feel that it's sweaty or sticky... it's horrible! There used to be this one old lady who only ever had notes. She would slobber (not lick) all over her fingers to grab a note out her purse. It would be soaking wet when she handed it over!

I don't really worry about it .
After all ,as my old Mum used to say ,"You have to eat a bucket of muck before you die " .I've survived so far .
But basic cleanliness is fair enough .Hand washing is basic cleanliness .
People should always wash their hands .I'm an avid handwasher :)

On our local market they serve food and deal with money also without washing their hands.

DT, well i would have complained there and then, asked for the manager even? The one in hospital got me, because of their laxity i caught a bad infection whilst waiting for an operation, thus prolonging the stay even further. As to the cleaning staff, i couldn't believe how bad they were.

Doctor's, nurses, medical staff ARE the worst.
Totally unacceptable and that is the main reason for the resistance of organisms to antibiotics, not the overuse of these drugs.......in my opinion.

Nurses walking about in the streets in their uniforms and then go onto the wards..........unacceptable.

Generally it doesn't bother me at all day to day, but I do like to see clinical people washing their hands between patients, and I like to see food being handled in shops according to food hygiene regulations.

I've always been suspicious of people wearing rubber gloves, they are protecting their own hands but i wonder how many times they change them. I put thread up about this some time ago, and the good ABers on here put my mind at rest somewhat.

I quite agree Chuck Fickens it's only in recent years we have been 'educated' about cleanliness and I think some of us are getting paranoid about it. I think I am!!

I can remember the days when nurses weren't allowed to take their uniforms home to wash (and thus spread possible infection), they had to change before they left work, and leave the dirties for the hospital laundry. There aren't hospital laundries these days, it's contracted out.

Far too much fuss over the top cleanliness these days .
If we weren't exposed to to the odd germ here and there how are people supposed to build up an immune system .
