Mapp And Lucia

I have just finished read E F Benson's Mapp and Lucia. I have had the book up on my shelves for years but watching the wonderful BBC production shown over Xmas persuaded me to take it down and read.

I am so glad I did ! An utter delight, from start to finish. There are 6 books altogether in the series, so I have ordered an omnibus edition from ebay.
I can't recommend these books highly enough !

Definitely preferred the first series, Prunella Scales was just wonderful! "And Withers has brought us our tea!"

Have read the books so often! 2nd series was excellent....but...

If you enjoyed these books you might like to try "Secret Lives" and "Paying Guests" also by EF Benson. Incidentally, imho, however good the TV series, there is NOTHING as good as reading the originals!

Just finished the 4th book and will start on book 5 tonight. These are a complete delight, from cover to cover !

Hi Mikey, enticed by the high praise and the lure of a mega book for 99p, i downloaded this onto my kindle. For most of the 1st book i was thinking What The Funicular? and where can i get my 99p back (and also a bit of what drugs are those answerbankers on)
However, i persevered and they have kind of worked their charm on me,! ALL of the characters are so unlikeable, i like them!

On a whim, I ordered the latest BBC DVD version of this, that I enjoyed so much at Xmas. I am trying to wait until after I have finished Book 6 before I slot it in me telly.....I am awful tempted !
