Bog Man recently died wrote a book

hello there, Happy New Year.

I recently (in the last six months) read an obituary of a really interesting man who had done some great exploring and who had written a book about exploring bogs and lakes etc. Apparently he would always take his swimming trunks and goggles everywhere he went and would always happily explore the local waterlife, wherever it may be. I would like to buy the book for my friend as it is suitably eccentric - anyone help me out with either the name of the guy and/or his book? Thanks!
