Does anyone know the name of a book from about 1983-86 ish about a girl who is ill and draws pictures in bed of a house and child which come to life? It was made into a film. It might feature a girls name in the title?
I think the book is Marianne Dreams by Catherine Storr, although it was published back in 1958. It was filmed as Paperhouse in 1988 (which might be where your date comes from), winning awards for director Bernard Rose and actress Charlotte Burke (her only film). Other adaptations were the British TV series Escape into Night (1972) and an opera (first performed 2004)
I think thats it. Thanks so much. Paperhouse rings a bell as the film. I will see if my library still has a copy. Didn't realise it was that old. I read it when i was at school and you just presume its all current don't you. Did you have to look it up or are just a font of information?
