Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - which I can undoubtedly recommend. Excellent book.
and Mrs Lincoln by Janis Cooke-Newman - also v.good.

I'd read it years ago and it's been sitting on my shelf all this time (I struggle to let go of books) and decided it was time for a re-read.

It's a lovely story.

I have The Scarlett Feather (?) sitting there too but have never read it, is it any good?

Not read that one, but as I say, any of her books are usually good.

I'll give it a bash next week then, I've already started another in the meantime LOL.

Back is still the same. I went to the doc yesterday morning and god a jab in the arse to 'relax the muscle'. Thankfully this doctor took me more seriously than the last and now I just have to wait for a hospital appointment to come through to get a scan to see what's going on.

The weather is OK. Lovely blue sky with a crisp air :o)

The Girls by Lori Lansens
It's about conjoined girls. Not at all mawkish or gruesome.
Each one writes from their own perspective. It's not a true story but you feel as though you know the girls personally when you've finished.

I'm like you Lakitu I don't like parting with books so I have got another copy of this secondhand to send to a friend.

That sounds interesting, yoga. If you like that kind of genre, maybe you will enjoy a book call The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

It's the true story of a chap Jean-Dominique Bauby who had a stroke and left him with a condition called 'Locked-in Syndrome'. He was mentally a great as ever but his body was completely paralysed except for his left eyelid (can you imagine? It doesn't bear thinking about really). He wanted to tell people what it was like to be like that so dictated the book letter by letter using his eyelid. i.e. the ghost writer recited the alphabet and he blinked when she got to the letter he needed.

It's inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time.

I would recommend Scarlett Feather, Lakitu, I read it several years ago but remember thoroughly enjoying it.

Thanks Lakitu that sounds very interesting and moving I will definitely read it.
I have read The Scarlet Feather - OK but like Daniela I have read all of her books and have become increasingly disappointed in them. My favourites were her early ones 'Light a Penny Candle' , 'Firefly Summer' but I did like 'The Glass Lake' and a couple of others. I didn't think much of her 'Whitethorn Woods'. Haven't read 'Heart and Soul' but have 'This Year it will be Different' to read after a few others. Oh dear, not enough hours in the day!

I agree with yogasun, the earlier novels were the best. The Glass Lake, Dublin 4, The Lilac Bus, Circle of Friends and Light A Penny Candle are my faves.

I've also got the Glass Lake sitting on my shelves so will give it a go soon. I seem to have a huge list of " must get round to reading this" books.

Lakitu and Yoga, I also hate throwing out books (or even giving them away). Some I will read again and again, its the ones I know I will only read once that I have trouble getting rid of. Oh well, must try harder when i get round to spring cleaning ha ha
