Any person who creates any work (book, play, written or played music, film, photograph, drawing, painting, design etc) automatically owns the copyright. In order to publicise the fact you need to protect it with the copyright symbol (C in a circle, which can be made on your computer by bracketing the capital C), your name and the year. Copyright remains valid for 70 years after the death of the creator of the work, so your descendants wil be able to benefit as well as you can if you wish to licence the use of your work.

You will find a small free program in this link which will add a copyrite to your photos as well as your name etc., its called CopyriteLeft

It's really enough just to use the Copyright symbol, the C in a circle, or (C) with a date and your name.

strictly speaking you don't need the (c) to protect your copyright.but it does warn potential plagiarists know you don't wnat your work published without your permission.

regardless of whether there's a (C) on the photo if it is published without permission there's a case for breach of copyright
