A First Line . . . .

I'm doing a quiz about first lines of novels. I have Googled this one every way I can think of, so I now have to just hope that someone out there just happens to know it, having read the book. Soooooo..... Which book / novel begins with the line

" The doors at the back of the abbey church creaked open, and the radiant bride appeared on the arm of arm of her noticeably less radiant father "
