Lovely poem

My 82 year old uncle loves poetry and told me about a poem that he had loved for years but didn't remember it all and couldn't remember the name. He only remembered a few lines.
However a quick google of a couple of the lines that he remembered revealed that it was this:

The days of our youth are the days of our glory;
And the myrtle and ivy of sweet two-and-twenty
Are worth all your laurels, though ever so plenty.
What are garlands and crowns to the brow that is wrinkled? 5

His eyes teared as I read it to him.
Is this not the best instance of when the internet is useful and fantastic?

It doesn’t matter what we call its name
It lives between the kettle and the cup
Where hot and cold consider it the same
It marks the passing of the night to day
And shuffles every instance of our thought
An antonym to everything we say
Till introspection is our last resort
It can’t be seen but it is always there
A shroud of fog before us in our mind
We challenge it so boldly everywhere
But leave our murmured penitence behind
We wonder at our weakness and its power
(As if it really mattered what we think)
We taste the good and bad, the sweet and sour
And pour the bits we choke on down the sink
We can’t escape - there’s only one way out
But even as we breathe our very last
There’ll be no revelation, no big shout
No prompted explanation for the cast
No satisfaction of a job well done
No perks or bonus for a life well spent
No light from darkness splitting moon from sun
No thunderbolt to tell us what it meant
Best not to try, then, just get through each day
No point in trying to over-analyse
It’s far beyond our reason anyway
An open mind will always take the prize

That is a great work. It made me think, would I want to be two and twenty again?

CANDLES.
Days to come stand in front of us
like a row of lighted candles—
golden, warm, and vivid candles.
Days gone by fall behind us,
a gloomy line of snuffed-out candles;
the nearest are smoking still,
cold, melted, and bent.
I don’t want to look at them: their shape saddens me,
and it saddens me to remember their original light.
I look ahead at my lighted candles.
I don’t want to turn for fear of seeing, terrified,
how quickly that dark line gets longer,
how quickly the snuffed-out candles proliferate.
