Church Bells.

Do any abers live next to or in the vicinity of a church that rings its bells before services. I am visiting my daughter at the moment and the church along the road from her starts ringings it's bells at some ungodly hour on a Sunday morning. And this eems to goon at various times during the day till evening service. Also on a Saturday if they have a wedding they ring the bells for about 45 min before the bride arrives. Should this be considered noise pollution.

Surely there are no ungodly hours on a Sunday! Try living right next door to Durham Cathedral as I had to when I was a student, then you will know what bells are really about.

In most circs, the church was there first and you can't really miss it if they have a belfry. I gre up living near a church and loved to hear the bells.

Oh come on, for a start you should be grateful that you able to hear the bells, if you were profoundly deaf you wouldn't would you. I think people living next to schools and at the end of airport runways and the like, would put up with the bells quite easily compared to what they are used to. Be happy!

I adore the sound of church bells.

Where I used to live, I could hear them practising on Tuesday evenings if the wind was right. Fantastic evocative sound.

I live about two minutes walk from our Parish Church .I love to hear the bells .
The only time it can jangle a bit is bell practice on a Wednesday evening when they hit a wrong clanger :)

I live near our Parish church and I don't mind the bells at all. What sort of hour is ungodly? 6am or before 8.30am yes I'd moan about it then. Nice to see the wedding guests arrive in all their finery with the bells ringing.

Yes, the village church is right next door.And the bell is rung before services,which include weddings, funerals and christenings on weekdays, as it has been for hundreds of years. What do you call an ungodly hour? First service here is about 8 a.m. I really can't see what you've got to complain about.

8am (for an 8.30 service) in the countryside is mid morning for most folk. Even in towns, I would hardly call it early.

Our Village church rings its bells about 1/2 hour before Sunday Service, have no idea about other Services. You just get used to it and it becomes background noise after a while.

I live 200 yards from them, the only time they annoy is when someone yanks out of turn.

LOL, how can Church bells be unGodly?! I bet the church has been there a lot longer than your daughter.
