The Stand is my fave Stephen King book.
Another book I loved as a child The Box of Delights dont know who wrote it but the expression "they scrobbled the punch and judy man " has become part of my every day language, love the word scrobbled !

There are SO many excellent reads aren't there, absolutely love all your answers. Getting some tips for books I've not yet read or even heard of !

I love books that stay with me for a while and I can go over them in my mind, sign of a brilliant author.
look up an author Kate Mosse, Labyrinth, a very good book, sort of Dan Brown only ten times better.

The Box of Delights - I re read that one every year! I met Virginia Ironside once when I bought one of her books for my mum - she was extremely nice.
I've been reminded of so many books just reading through the posts of this thread. Happy memories of sitting on the bus reading Jean Plaidy, Agatha Christie, and Dorothy L. Sayers - there's an awful lot of books I now want to download onto my kindle - thanks for that!!

Do try to read Labyrinth - it's a great read and so much better than Dan Brown's stuff. (Mind you, most things are!). I've also read Sepulchre and Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse and they're also excellent. She evidently has a new one, Citadel, out in September which I look forward to reading
Bensmum, my husband said Labyrinth is a good book. I will get around to it.
