Inspired by a suggestion from Ann86.

Do you have any photos you've taken and would like to post here?
They could be from a basic 'point n shoot', a high falutin' DSLR or a scan from a pic taken on an old film camera or maybe just something you snapped on your phone.
Maybe you could give a short account of the circumstances eg. where/why it was taken, what memory/feeling it holds for you.

Wow! Thanks JNO - now that's what I call meaning attached to a photograph, and a mighty fine one it is too!
When I was in Florida a few years ago I held one my arms. A fisherman at the end of the pier told me they are pretty tame and don't mind you doing this "go right ahead! ...pick it up!" he said, and before I'd made my excuses, HE picked one up and shoved it in my arms.

Here's another pelican pic taken by me from the back of a ferry to Dauphin Island, Gulf Shores Alabama last year. Kids were chucking bread into the sea and there was a frenzy of seagull/pelican activity, I snapped quite a few shots but this was one of the best.

Great picture of the pelicans.... Thanks jno, I would love to know which rose its is.
great pelican action shot - the tension of those few inches between the foot and the water surface, it really grabs you

More pics please!
here's one of my all-time favourites

Backstory: we were going across the Sudanese desert and stopped at a semi-nomad village (they moved closer to the river in the hot season). I found myself wondering if these people had seen any Europeans before. A while after I got home, I watched Joanna Lumley on the Nile on TV and there she was with the very same family... so the answer to my question is "Well, they've seen the occasional Bond girl..."

OMG! That is fantastic :-)
if I could take one photo a year that turned out as nice, I'd be happy. But it seldom happens. Pure serendipity when it does.
Depends whether you want this to be a general chat forum or an Answerbank I suppose.

There's obviously scope for another message board for all the folks here who chat between themselves and in one way that's nice, that a community has been engendered.

For myself I'd prefer it to be an Answerbank.

Hi ChinaJan - I'm unclear about which post you are responding to here (?)
At the most extreme, this would be about people posting *links* to photos they've made, so there would be no bandwidth issue and if anyone doesn't like it they could always just ignore it, like I do with "Sport".
There is already 'chatterbank' for general chit-chat.

So come on then more pics please! Preferably with a story attached.
Here's one from me:

So where is this then?
sorta runwayish? Nice pattern with the horizontals and verticals
Amazing detail prancer.

Thanks, it's an 'extract' from a larger pic I took last year - the background may have made it too easy to identify the location.

Thanks Mazie.
the picture would have been weaker if you'd cropped the top off, though.
I'd love to join in this - do I need to register with tinypic or photobucket? Which? (actually I think I might have already done so once but can't remember)
That's some top gear on display AP!
you don't need to register with tinypic (I don't know about other sites), just upload a photo and fire away.
