assumed it was the wife (china) of someone in the merchant of venice but none are listed. Anybody go it?

It is from the Merchant Of Venice - Bassanio:

B = British, Assani = anagram of Asian's, o = old.

I think you will find it is Bassanio..
B then anagram of Asians. with O.
He was a suitor of Portia in the M.Of V.

Thanks, wasn't sure of the U from another clue. Misinterpreted china as wife rather than friend.

And china is rhyming slang for mate (china plate), not wife!
