Oh so just because it happened to be from uncouth Fry it is perfectly acceptable?
Note the BBC's response, first they address him as Stephen instead of using his surname as is generally the case with others, then go on to excuse him because that is how he is.
/// “Stephen, whose irreverence and style is extremely well-known to
viewers, ///
And what could be said regarding the Independence's reporting:
/// In happier news, Fry chose the Baftas weekend to make his first public appearance with his new husband Elliott Spencer, who watched on from the wings as the actor won the affections not just of Birdman stars Michael Keaton and Ed Norton, but also a kiss from Cuba Gooding Jr. ///
All lovies together, yuk, please pass the sick bucket.

So just a few complainers that complain for a hobby!

“We accept that some viewers disagreed with this approach, and this feedback has been noted.”
Can't see the problem.

i don't really get why people complained - you hear worse on BBC all the time, so i don't know why people have chosen this one instance to moan about!
One use of the F word, post-watershed with a warning before doesn't seem something to complain about to me, however some people disagree with me, vive la difference!
TBH, i wouldn't expect an employer to do anything BUT defend their employee - after all it's hardly indefensible

If there is something on telly that I find offensive, then I just either switch off or change channels. Maybe I have one of these new TVs ? Maybe only MY telly has an off button or a remote control.? Please people, invest in a new telly with an off button and stop being offended by everything and everyone. Stop looking for things to offend you. I can't stand Fry so I never watch him. Problem solved.
Rant over.

There was no reason too, he portrays himself as an intellectual, if he is then he shold have sufficient knowledge and understanding to know not to do it.
AOG also makes a good point about the well known lefty organizartions response. You can bet your bottom dollar if it was some right wing NRA supporting actor the whinging handwringing lefty liberals would be out on force on here. And in the Guardian/Independent/BBC.

I watched the BAFTA awards and couldn't give a fig as to what Fry said after the watershed.
I was rather disappointed though. I had been told by those who idolise him that he is a very witty, intelligent man.
I was also told as a youngster that swearing is an indication of ignorance, lack of vocabulary and the inability to find the correct adjective. Bit of a paradox isn't it?
