I've just finished reading it for the fifth time and I SO mad with JKR! I am a HUGE fan - I love the books (it's the child in me!) But did anyone else get really annoyed? The end of Dumbledore! The end of Hogwarts!! What is the world coming to!!!

Dumbledore IS the greatest wizard in the world.
Thank you! That always bugged me about Snape. They explained it away by saying that D was so good he needed to see good in everyone, but this is Snape, for goodness sake. Was it never a hint that he called Voldemort 'the dark lord'. I don't know. It all sounded very far fetched (okay, perhaps a bad description for a fantasy story!) and a bit 'quickly put together'. plus, you never saw Voldemort WITH Snape. Another trick??? Perhaps you're right. D isn't really dead. God, I can't wait two years for the book to come out!!
My far fetched theory of what happens next is as follows. The Dumbledore Snape killed was actually somebody else who had imbibed polyjuice (or whatever makes you look like someone else) and Snape knew this so had no compunction in killing him. The Deatheaters (?) all now think Snape is really with Voldemort. I really hope so, because I can't see how else Dumbledore could be alive and correct in his views of Snape.
i agree that its really obvious whos a death eater and who isnt because they all call voldemort the dark lord!!but i think snapes somehow good and dumbledore knew what was happening all along and so planned for what happened at theend of the book.he cant have been outwitted by snape! but the polyjuice potion is a good idea- like maybe when we saw where snape was living at thestart of the book and it appeared he had wormtail working for him as a servant- maybe that was an imposter wormtail to fool the other death eaters into thinking snape was in with voldemort?!?? could be wrong... reallly want to find out when the book comes out,
Forgive me, SeaJayPea, but what the hell are you doing on a site entitled 'Disappointed in The HBP' if you haven't read the book. It seems rather obvious we would be discussing why we were disappinted - and rather obvious that we HAVE read the book! It's been out long enough!!
God, I hope you're all right. I couldn't bear life without Dumbledore!!! Good polyjuice idea!

Firstly it is not a SITE about the book, it is a post on a message board which thoughtlessly gave away a plot spoiler without you even clicking on the actual message! So I too am mighty p*ssed off. And I haven't read it yet (before anyone asks) because I have not had the time to do so until this week.
Thanks a bunch

calmly chaps, lets not get het up here. Don't think that Dumbledore can have a Horcrux as that would have menat that he would have killed someone...he's a good guy and good guys don't do that. I do think that he might have gone behind that curtain in the Ministry of Magic to bring back the others behind there to the last battle
I knew beforehand that Dumbledore would die near the end of this book, yet it didn't spoil my enjoyment of the story. That's the beauty of books. If it were just a film, finding out the ending really would spoil it because films are all about the end result, but with books you can just enjoy the journey there regardless.
Re the deaths (or not) of various characters, to roughly paraphrase something I saw on another site: "no body, no death - so Sirius is alive; and when there is a body, it's just a challenge to the writer to come up with a convincing explanation of why it wasn't a real death." This came, I think, from a hardened cynic of a comic book fan!
I thought the book was a lot more enjoyable than HP5. The characters were more fun, and although there were the inevitable quantum leaps in plot that would have Aristotle turning in his grave, it was a lot more plausible than the last one.

I think alot of people here have good theories, but I think we just have to accept the fact that Dumbledore is really dead. Dumbledore is a smart man, like when Sirius died, Dumbledore would have told Harry if there would be another way to revive Sirius, and he didnt...so now Dumbledore is dead and I dont think he's going to "rise from the dead" in the 7th book. I doubt the books will finish at 7..because it's gonna be super long..I sure hope JKR writes more Harry Potter books...I am totally obsessed with Harry Potter books!!!
